Maintenance Workers
The City of Beavercreek, Ohio is currently accepting applications for the positions of Seasonal Street Maintenance, Parks Maintenance and Golf Maintenance. These are temporary seasonal maintenance positions. Applicants must be able to perform any and all manual tasks required. Knowledge and use of various hand tools is required. Applicants must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License. May receive training in operation of other vehicles and equipment. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Softball Field Supervisor
GENERAL NATURE OF WORK: This is seasonal work overseeing the adult softball leagues in the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department. An employee in this class is responsible for a variety of softball specific tasks at the playing fields. Duties are performed under the direction of the Recreation Program Supervisor.
EQUIPMENT & JOB LOCATION: This position requires general knowledge of office and recreation equipment, including: softball equipment and standard office equipment. The primary work site is the City of Beavercreek recreational facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in all positions in this class.
- Checks and inspects softball diamonds for readiness and safety; performs minor field repairs as necessary.
- Distributes softballs for use in games; collects softballs at the conclusion of each game.
- Distributes scorecards and umpire sign-in sheets for each game; collects scorecards and umpire sign-in sheets at the conclusion of each game.
- Contacts the softball officials’ designated individual when an umpire does not appear for a scheduled game.
- Maintains the league statistics for publication; turns in statistics, scorecards, and umpire sign-in sheets to the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Culture on a weekly basis.
- Observes each game; enforces park policies, rules, and regulations.
- Records information pertaining to unusual occurrences, cancelled games, forfeited games, fights, and expelled/ejected players.
- Responsible for softball diamond lighting; turns lights on and off as necessary.
ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
- Responds to complaints from citizens.
- Assists with concession stand operation as necessary.
- Assists with volleyball program as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, fellow employees, other City employees, and the general public.
- General knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties.
- General knowledge of the rules of softball, scorekeeping, and the calculation of softball statistics.
- Skill in dealing firmly, tactfully, and courteously with the general public.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to work under the direction of the Recreation Program Supervisor.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Some experience in sports supervision or recreational work; or any combination of training and experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain promptly, a valid Ohio Driver’s License as required.
- Ability to work other than normal working hours, and to work various shifts as necessary.

Recreation Intern
GENERAL NATURE OF WORK: This is administrative work in assisting with the recreational activities and programs in the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department. An employee in this class is responsible for a variety of recreation program related tasks. Duties are performed under the direction of the Recreation Program Supervisor, Department of Parks, Recreation, and Culture.
EQUIPMENT & JOB LOCATION: This position requires general knowledge of office and recreation equipment, including: personal computer, telephone, general office equipment, and transportation vehicles. The primary work site is the Municipal Maintenance Facility and the City’s recreation facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

- Performs tasks and duties as set forth by contract with the intern’s college or university.
- Supervises seasonal sports such as adult soccer, adult softball and youth T-ball Leagues.
- Handles administrative duties related to seasonal sports, such as preparing league standings.
- Responds to requests for recreation information; answers questions and provides necessary information; enrolls individuals in activities, classes, and programs.
- Prepares news releases pertaining to upcoming activities and special events.
- Updates the departmental telephone hotline as necessary.
- Prepares and mails the registration information for the upcoming sports seasons.
- Assumes the duties of the Softball Field Supervisor in his/her absence.
- Works special events, such as Fourth of July and summer concert series.

- Performs clerical duties as necessary, including typing, filing, copying, answering telephones, and bookkeeping.

- Coursework preparation in related fields such as statistics, marketing, program evaluation, personnel management, sports management and special events programming.

Bartender
GENERAL NATURE OF WORK: This is semi skilled work responsible for selling a la carte food and beverage services to customers. An employee in this class reports directly to the Banquet Captain or Banquet Manager for daily instruction, schedule and general duties.
EQUIPMENT & JOB LOCATION: This position requires specific knowledge of Beverage and Alcohol services and equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Provide courteous service to the guests.

Applications are currently being accepted for Dishwasher at the Beavercreek Golf Club. Prior dishwasher experience is a plus. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Dishwasher hours will vary from 0-35 hours per week based upon the Club’s business. Pay range $7-$8/hr. Must be available nights, weekends and holidays.

Cooks
Applications are currently being accepted for Cooks at the Beavercreek Golf Club. Prior kitchen experience is a must. Banquet prep experiences are a plus. This position will require use of kitchen skills, i.e. meat cutting, hot line service, sauces, etc. Must be available weekends and holidays. The City of Beavercreek’s Golf Club is a full service facility with both a la carte and banquet services for up to 230 guests. Cook hours will vary from 0 to 35 hours per week based upon the club’s business. Pay range is $7.90-$10.75/hr.
