The Senior Connection Newsletter
The Senior Connection is the Center’s monthly newsletter, mailed to a majority of the seniors residing in Beavercreek. The Newsletter contains information about the activities, programs and monthly special events that are going on at the Center. About the Lofino Senior Adult Center
The Charles and Anna Mae Lofino Senior Adult and Cultural Enrichment Center officially opened its door on June 25, 2005, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house. This facility is the home for the Beavercreek Senior Center and the Beavercreek Community Theater.
The Center has a beautiful lobby area, spacious great room, library, game room, computer room and fitness center. The space provides opportunities for classes such as painting, exercise, billiards, knitting, yoga, dominos, corn hole, ping pong and much more. The Great Room provides a spacious dining area and a fully equipped kitchen for lunches and special events. The Center also offers a top notch fitness area with state-of-the-art fitness equipment including treadmills, bikes and user-friendly weight equipment. There’s no need to go to a fitness club to get and stay in shape for successful aging.
Memberships to the Center allow free use of the facilities as well as discounts on classes, members-only special events, a subscription to the monthly newsletter, and more. Senior Residents age 55 and up residing in the City of Beavercreek and Beavercreek Township are only $30 per year per person. Seniors residing outside of Beavercreek may join the Center for only $45 per year per person. Non members may purchase a daily admissions pass for $5 residents and $7 non residents. Confidential scholarships are available by speaking to the Center Director.

Who We Serve
Participation is open to all those who are 55+ better. Most activities are drop-in, which require no advanced registration. Those that require advanced registration or sign-up will be posted in the newsletter.
What We Do

The Senior Adult Center offers a variety of activities and programs including:
Mondays
- Exercise tapes at 9:00 and 10:00 a.m.; live exercise instruction at 11:30 a.m.
- Line dancing - beginners at 1:30 p.m.; advanced at 2:30 p.m.
- The Beavercreek Strummers practice at 1:00 p.m.
- The second Monday of each month has The Red Shirt Guys meeting for breakfast at a variety of local restaurants, and the very popular Red Hatters Group getting together for lunch.
Tuesdays
- Artist Ron Lee provides the instruction for a drop-in art class at 10:00 a.m.
- Pool group for all levels meet at 1:00 p.m.
- Table tennis begins at 1:30 p.m.
- The Greene County Council on Aging (GCCOA) provides staff on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 9:30 am to offer our care givers group. This group is designed to assist those folks providing care for their loved one and as a group shares their support with each other.
Wednesdays
- Exercise tapes at 9:00 and 10:00 a.m.; live exercise instruction at 11:30 a.m.
- Bridge 12:30 p.m.
- Corn hole 1:00 p.m.
- Dominos 2:00 p.m.
- Stamp club at 1:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month
Thursdays
- Drop in pool at 10:00 a.m.
- GCCOA professional staff as a Care Coordinator on the first and third Thursday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This is service provides seniors the opportunity to meet to discuss any difficulties they may be having like needing help with Medicare D forms as well as assistance in many other areas of need for seniors. You may call the GCCOA at 376-5486 to schedule an appointment or come by the Center on the Thursday she is scheduled.
Fridays
- Exercise tapes at 9:00 and 10:00 a.m.; live exercise instruction at 11:30 a.m.
- The Bits and Pieces is a discussion group on the first and third Friday of the month. This group is open to everyone and a variety of topics may be discussed on any given day. Again with the support of the GCCOA a staff person is provided (Lisa) to moderate or bring topics of discussion or interest if needed but the group is not limited to any subjects.
- Euchre meets on Fridays from 1:00 to 3:30 pm and again is open to anyone who would like to drop in and play.
- The first Friday of the month is pizza and game night. Those that sign up and pay $1 by 12:00 p.m. the Thursday before may come at 6:00 p.m. and enjoy pizza. The fun and games begin at 7:00 p.m. with anything from cards, pool, dominos, scrabble, table tennis, corn hole and more!
- On the third Friday of the month the Warm-Up America meets at 1:00 p.m. This group provides Afghans, lap blankets and more for the homeless and other folks in need of such items.
Groups, Clubs, Organizations
All of these groups meet at the Center. For information on how to join or about a specific group, call the Center.
- NARFE meets the second Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the Center.
- Red Hatters Group the second Monday of the month at 12:00 p.m.
- Red Shirt Guys every second Monday of the month at 9:00 a.m.
- Stamp Club the first Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m.
Transportation
The Center provides transportation service to those individuals in Beavercreek who are not able to drive or do not have transportation. The cost for a ride is only $2 per one way. Requirements are as follows:
- Individuals must live in the City of Beavercreek or Beavercreek Township
- Rides will be accommodated in the Beavercreek area as well as Miami Valley Hospital and the base at Wright Patterson
- Ride must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Rides are on a first-come, first serve basis. Medical appointments take priority

Volunteers
The Center prides itself with over 150 regular dedicated volunteers. Most of the activities and programs are offered through the volunteers.
Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to complete an application and meet with the Center Staff to discuss your interests and opportunities we have available.
