Residents may not realize that the local parks are managed by three different entities. In an effort to provide more efficient and effective service delivery for Parks, Recreationand Senior Services, the Beavercreek City Council, Beavercreek Township Trustees and Beavercreek Park District Commissioners have agreed to consolidate services. Through the proposed consolidation the Beavercreek Park District will progressively assume the responsibility for the operation, maintenance and improvement of the parks and recreation facilities owned by the City, Township and Park District.

The Beavercreek Park District will submit to the voters of the City and Township in November 2012 a levy to generate income to finance the cost of operating, improving and maintaining Parks, Recreation and Senior Services. The levy will be used to replace reductions in State funding to the three entities and will maintain existing services as well as provide for some capital improvement. The City, Township and Park District are acting now to supplement the lost revenue to ensure quality services are maintained in the future.

The elected officials’ and policy makers’ vision is likely to be a model for others to follow around the state. The Park District would be responsible for continuing to provide a balance of active, passive and natural environments. The District will maintain and create facilities and programs that provide equal access to all and continue to provide those quality experiences in safe, attractive, well-used parks. The District will continue to provide programs and facilities that are attractive and enticing to existing and potential residents including a vibrant senior centerand transportation program. The continued support and cooperation with volunteers, athletic organizations, nonprofits, neighborhoods, developers and other governmental agencies will continue to be a priority.

This initiative reaffirms the commitment of the elected officials and policy makers for safe places to play, support for senior programming and transportation, natural, and historic settings, and an affirmation of the value that is provided to our residents and business community by these services.
