The Beavercreek City Charter establishes a Council-Manager
form of government with an elected City Council composed of a Mayor and six
Council Members, which exercise legislative authority over the governing of the
municipality. The City Council
Members are elected at-large to four-year overlapping terms of office. Municipal elections are conducted in November on odd-numbered years.
The Council candidate receiving the most votes in each municipal election
serves as Mayor for two years until the next municipal election and then as a
Council Member for the remaining two years of their term. The City Council meets regularly two times monthly on the
second and fourth Mondays.
The City Council
collectively determines the goals, objectives, policies and programs of the
municipal government, enacts ordinances, resolutions and motions, approves
contracts and agreements, considers development proposals, authorizes public
improvement projects, adopts the annual budget, authorizes expenditures, and
establishes taxes and other sources of revenue. The Council appoints a City Manager to direct and manage the
municipal organization and services, and to advise and assist the Council in its
decisions.
