N. Fairfield Rd.  @ Fairwood Dr. Widening Project; PID #T.B.D.

 

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components: 

1.         The widening of N. Fairfield Road along north and south from the entrance to the Nazarene Church / Fairwood Drive.  This project will allow for construction of a center left turn lane for vehicles northbound and southbound on N. Fairfield Rd., in order to lessen the number of rear end accidents at the intersection.

2.         Project involves removal and replacement of curb and sidewalk along with pavement placement and modified pavement markings and enhanced street lighting.

3.         Right-of-way acquisition will involve only minor construction easements, subject to final development of construction drawings.

4.         Construction of the center lane allows for easier transition to the future signalization of the intersection.

Project Status

The project engineering and environmental review work is scheduled to begin in early 2008, with construction currently scheduled for late 2009 or early 2010.


US 35 Bridges at Factory Rd. PID #77941

 

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         Replacement of the deteriorated bridge decks on the bridges on U.S 35 immediately east of Factory Rd., which spans the Beaver Creek.  Additional work may include the lengthening of the westbound left turn lane onto southbound Factory Rd..

2.         This project will be designed and administered by ODOT, through their consulting Engineer, the firm of Gannett – Fleming.

Project Status

This project initiated Engineering work in 2007 and construction funding has been designated for the State Fiscal Year 2010 with the start of construction estimated for January of 2010.  The project design contract and construction contract are being administered by ODOT District 8 in Lebanon, Ohio.


US 35 Corridor Improvements Project; PID #80468

 

Project Description

In 2004, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission in cooperation with ODOT, completed the Greene 35 Corridor Study, to recommend a strategy to convert the section of US35 between the North Fairfield Interchange and the Xenia Bypass to a limited-access facility The current project, GRE-35-4.26, focuses on the recommendations of the Corridor Study following ODOT's Project Development Process (PDP). The PDP provides a framework for decision making to take a project from the planning stages to construction. The project is currently in the environmental analysis and preliminary engineering phases.  Additional information can be obtained at the MVRPC website at mvrpc.org.   A public input meeting may occur as early as late 2008.

Project Status

This project environmental work and preliminary engineering has been awarded to Ch2MHill by ODOT. Approval of the Environmental Document is scheduled for the year 2010 with completion of construction drawings possible by 2012, depending on availability of funds.  Actual construction funding has not been allocated.


Dayton-Xenia Road Widening Project; PID #5005

 

Project Description

 This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The widening of Dayton-Xenia Road to a four (4) lane curbed pavement section from Wildonna Dr. to just east of East Lynn Drive.  Dayton-Xenia Rd. will be widened to five (5) lanes in the vicinity of Grange Hall Rd. and Stedman Lane.  Grange Hall Rd. will be widened from the Creekside Trail to just south of Milner Drive

2.         A bikeway will be constructed along the north side of Dayton-Xenia Road and a sidewalk will be constructed along the south side of the roadway.  A bikeway will also be constructed along portions of the west side of Grange Hall Road, and a sidewalk along portions of the east side of the roadway.

3.         The traffic signal at Grange Hall Road and Dayton-Xenia Road will be reconstructed to be a mast arm type signal with a new traffic controller that will provide for left turn arrows in all directions.

4.         Some sections of Dayton-Xenia will be reconstructed to improve intersection sight distance.

5.         Right-of-way acquisition will involve 68 parcels, and no homes or businesses will need to be demolished to accommodate the proposed improvements.

Project Status

The project design is complete and the City will complete the purchasing the additional right-of-way that is needed for this project in August of 2008.   Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2009.


Indian Ripple Road @ Darst Road Widening Project; PID #78489

 

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The widening of Indian Ripple Road along the south side of the roadway from the entrance to the Vineyard church to Darst Road.  This project will construct a long right turn lane for vehicles eastbound on Indian Ripple turning onto Darst Road.

2.         Project involves curb along the south side of the roadway, along with minor storm sewer and signal improvements.

Project Status

The construction contract for this project has been awarded to Mainline Road and Bridge. Project construction commenced in late 2007, with construction nearly completed as of May 2008.


Beavercreek Signals Project; PID #78495

 

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The interconnection of eleven (11) intersections with fiber optic cable. This will allow for improved timing and coordination between traffic signals and improved traffic flow on Dayton-Xenia and N. Fairfield Roads. The intersections included in this project are shown below:

            1)         N. Fairfield Road @ Jonathon Drive

            2)         N. Fairfield Road @ Seajay Drive

            3)         N. Fairfield Road @ SR835/US 35 Ramp A

            4)         N. Fairfield Road @ Dayton-Xenia Road

            7)         Dayton-Xenia Road @ Meadow Bridge Drive

2.         Traffic signal and controller equipment upgrades as needed.

3.         Project also includes the installation of some traffic monitoring cameras, and the installation of a new traffic management system.

Project Status

CDS and Associates was hired in 2007 for the design of this improvement. Project construction is currently scheduled to begin in Spring 2009.


Indian Ripple Road @ I-675 Signals Project; PID #79656

 

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The reconstruction of the existing signals at the Indian Ripple Road at I-675 ramps (two signals reconstructed).  New signals will be mast arm installations and will be painted to match the signal at the entrance to the Greene.

2.         The installation of thirteen (13) lighting fixtures along Indian Ripple Road from just east of Tonawanda Trail to just west of Sylvania Drive. 

3.         The existing ODOT lighting fixtures on the ramps are to remain.

Project Status

A construction contract was awarded to Capital Electric in mid 2007. This project is scheduled to be completed by the Summer of 2008.


Indian Ripple Road Widening Project; PID #80250

 

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The widening of Indian Ripple Road to a five (5) lane curbed pavement section from Sylvania Drive to Darst Road.  The widening continues on the north side of Indian Ripple Road from Darst Road to Harbert Drive.

2.         The project includes the reconstruction of the traffic signals at Sylvania Drive, Woodcroft Trail, and Darst Road.

3.         Project includes street lighting, a bikeway along the north side of Indian Ripple Road, and a sidewalk along the south side of Indian Ripple Road.

4.         The traffic signals and street lights will be painted to match the color of the lighting fixtures in front of the Greene Development.

Project Status

Tran Engineering has been hired to design this improvement and preliminary construction drawings were submitted to ODOT in May 2007. The project design is scheduled to be completed by the Summer of 2008. The City is scheduled to begin purchasing right-of-way in the Summer of 2008, with construction scheduled for 2010.


Beavercreek Station Project; PID #81196

 

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The construction of a parking lot and restroom/meeting room facility along the west side of N. Fairfield Road, just north of the Creekside Trail Bikeway.

2.         The project includes parking lot lighting, and landscaping.

3.         The proposed building will be constructed to resemble an old train depot structure.

Project Status

An environmental study is currently being performed by DLZ, Inc. The City has applied for additional grant funds to reduce the City’s share of the project design and construction costs. The construction of this project is currently scheduled to begin in 2010 or early 2011.


Grange Hall Road Bikeway Project; PID #81194

 

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The construction of a bikeway along the west side of Grange Hall Road from the Creekside Trail to Research Blvd.

2.         This project also includes some minor widening on Grange Hall Road, the installation of curb along the west side of the roadway, and some minor drainage improvements.

3.         Some temporary construction easements along the west side of Grange Hall Road will be necessary.

Project Status

The City has hired DLZ, Inc. to perform the environmental review for this project. The project design will be performed in-house by Engineering Division staff. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2010.


Pentagon Blvd. Widening Project 

 

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The widening of New Germany-Trebein Road to a five (5) lane boulevard from just east of Grange Hall Road to approximately 1,000 east of Commons Blvd. 

2.         Project also includes decorative street lighting, curb, storm sewer, the installation of a new traffic signal at Royal Gateway, and the construction of a bikeway along the south side of the roadway.

3.         The City originally received a grant of $420,000 from the Ohio Department of Development towards the design and construction of this improvement and was recently notified of an additional $500,000 grant for job development.  The remainder of the project is being assessed to adjoining property owners with the result being a project that was constructed at no cost to the City.

Project Status

The construction of this improvement began in late 2007, and it is anticipated that construction will be completed by the Summer of 2008.


Kemp Road Reconstruction Project

 

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The reconstruction of Kemp Road from just west of Grange Hall Road to I-675 to improvement both the vertical and horizontal alignment.

2.         The widening of Kemp Road to three (3) lanes.

Shakertown Rd. at N. Fairfield Rd. Assessment Project

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The widening and placement of curb and gutter along the Ballyemeade Development on Shakertown Rd. to create a separate westbound left turn lane at the intersection with N. Fairfield Rd.  All costs to be assessed to the development.

2.         Traffic signal poles at the intersection will be relocated and upgraded along with the improvement.. 

3.         A multipurpose path will be constructed along the north side of Shakertown Rd. and east side of N. Fairfield Rd. abutting the development.

N. Fairfield Rd. Resurfacing Project; PID #84217

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         Pavement planning of the existing surface course of asphalt and resurfacing with new asphalt on N. Fairfield Rd.from Kemp Rd. to Crossing Blvd. and on Pentagon Blvd. / New Germany-Trebein Rd. from the north entrance to the Mall to Towne Drive.

2.         This project also includes the installation of raised pavement markers to improve nighttime visibility as well as pavement repairs, new loop detectors and pavement markings.

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The widening of Hanes Rd. from Kemp Rd. approx. 1000 feet southward to create a northbound left turn lane.

2.         The installation of new mastarm style traffic signal at the intersection.

3.         Installation of sidewalk along the east side of Kemp Rd. to HedgeGate Boulevard.

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The construction of a multi-purpose pedestrian / bicycle bridge across I-675 at a point west of N. Fairfield Rd. approximately in the alignment of Commons Boulevard extended.

2.         The connection of the bridge to the existing pedestrian / bicycle system on Pentagon Blvd in Beavercreek and via surface streets to the pedestrian / bicycle system in Wright State University and Fairborn.
