Banquet Captain

 

City of Beavercreek is accepting applications for the position of Banquet Captain at the Beavercreek Golf Course.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent; a valid Ohio driver’s license; and the ability to work outside normal business hours and various shifts. 

GENERAL NATURE OF WORK: This is semi skilled work responsible in assisting the day-to-day activities of the kitchen.  An employee in this class reports directly to the Banquet Manager for daily instruction, schedule and general duties.

EQUIPMENT & JOB LOCATION: This position requires general knowledge of all hourly positions in the banquet and beverage department.  This position requires general knowledge of the beverage cart and bartending equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in all positions in this class.

  • Assist in the training and supervision of all banquet and service employees under the supervision and direction of the Banquet Manager.
  • Organizing and monitoring the completions of daily and weekly tasks and side duties when applicable under the direction of the Banquet Manager
  • Complete all the assigned tasks either listed on production lists or under direct request of the Banquet Manager.
  • Assist Banquet Manager in the planning, scheduling and running of service training programs.
  • Assist Banquet Manager in monthly beverage inventories.
  • Compile weekly linen orders under the direction of the Banquet Manager.
  • Responsibly service alcohol products to customers following the state and federal laws.
  • Understands P.O.S systems and responsibly handles daily transactions.
  • Understands all equipment and its uses – including set-up, break down and clean up.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel and stand during shift.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs+.
  • Maintain a neat and sanitary work environment.
  • Maintain personal hygiene to departmental standards. 
  • Follow all opening and closing duties.
  • Communicate with management regarding problems in the banquet and service department.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

 

ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Operates equipment as necessary.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from a standard high school, or the equivalent; or any combination of training and experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work other than normal working hours, and to work various shifts as necessary.
  • Ability to be bonded.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain after employment CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain promptly, a valid Ohio Driver’s License.

Parks, Recreation, and Culture Intern

Seasonal
(Salary:  $9.36 per hour)

The City of Beavercreek, Ohio is currently accepting applications for the position of Parks Student Intern.  This is a seasonal part-time intern position.  Applicants must be able to prepare weekly press releases and marketing for the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department, oversee the adult softball program, supervise seasonal staff, work with volunteer organizations as needed, organize annual youth tennis tournament, supervise summer concert series, coordinate special events, assist with the Fourth of July festivities, and other activities that focus on the individual student’s skills and abilities.

GENERAL NATURE OF WORK: This is administrative work in assisting with the recreational activities and programs in the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department.  An employee in this class is responsible for a variety of recreation program related tasks. Duties are performed under the direction of the Recreation Program Supervisor, Department of Parks, Recreation, and Culture.

EQUIPMENT & JOB LOCATION: This position requires general knowledge of office and recreation equipment, including: personal computer, telephone, general office equipment, and transportation vehicles. The primary work site is the Municipal Maintenance Facility and the City’s recreation facilities.

  • Performs tasks and duties as set forth by contract with the intern’s college or university.

  • Supervises seasonal sports such as adult soccer, adult softball and youth T-ball Leagues.

  • Handles administrative duties related to seasonal sports, such as preparing league standings.

  • Responds to requests for recreation information; answers questions and provides necessary information; enrolls individuals in activities, classes, and programs.

  • Prepares news releases pertaining to upcoming activities and special events.

  • Updates the departmental telephone hotline as necessary.

  • Prepares and mails the registration information for the upcoming sports seasons.

  • Assumes the duties of the Softball Field Supervisor in his/her absence.

  • Works special events, such as Fourth of July and summer concert series.

ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Responds to complaints from citizens.
  • Performs clerical duties as necessary, including typing, filing, copying, answering telephones, and bookkeeping.

  • General knowledge of park administration and recreational programs.

  • Must be enrolled at an accredited college or university working towards a baccalaureate degree or graduate degree in recreation administration or a related field during their employment with the City of Beavercreek.

  • Coursework preparation in related fields such as statistics, marketing, program evaluation, personnel management, sports management and special events programming.

EQUIPMENT & JOB LOCATION: This position requires specific knowledge of Beverage and Alcohol services and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in all positions in this class.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 
  • Provide courteous service to the guests. 
  • Responsibly handle monetary & credit transactions
  • Responsibly service a la carte food services in a sanitary manner.
  • Responsibly service alcohol products to customers following the state and federal laws.
  • Understands all equipment and its uses – including set-up, break down and clean up.

Dishwasher

Applications are currently being accepted for Dishwasher at the Beavercreek Golf Club. Prior dishwasher experience is a plus. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Dishwasher hours will vary from 0-35 hours per week based upon the Club’s business. Pay range $7-$8/hr. Must be available nights, weekends and holidays.

Cooks

Applications are currently being accepted for Cooks at the Beavercreek Golf Club. Prior kitchen experience is a must. Banquet prep experiences are a plus. This position will require use of kitchen skills, i.e. meat cutting, hot line service, sauces, etc. Must be available weekends and holidays. The City of Beavercreek’s Golf Club is a full service facility with both a la carte and banquet services for up to 230 guests. Cook hours will vary from 0 to 35 hours per week based upon the club’s business. Pay range is $7.90-$10.75/hr.
