(1)  N. Fairfield Rd.  @ Fairwood Dr. Widening Project;   PID #83075

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.        The widening of N. Fairfield Road northward and southward from the entrance to the Nazarene Church / Fairwood Drive.  This project will allow for construction of a center left turn lane for vehicles northbound and southbound on N. Fairfield Rd., with the goal of reducing the number of rear end accidents at the intersection.

2.        Project involves removal and replacement of curb and sidewalk along the east side of N. Fairfield Road. This project also includes the placement and modified pavement markings and enhanced street lighting.

3.        Project includes the installation of a traffic signal at this intersection.

Project Status

(2)  US 35 Bridges at Factory Rd. PID #77941

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.        Replacement of the deteriorated bridge decks on the bridges on U.S 35 immediately east of Factory Rd., which spans the Beaver Creek.  Additional work may include the lengthening of the westbound left turn lane onto southbound Factory Rd..

2.        This project will be designed and administered by ODOT, through their consulting Engineer, the firm of Gannett - Fleming.

Project Status

This project initiated Engineering work in 2007 and construction funding has been designated for the State Fiscal Year (July 2010). The project design contract and construction contract is being administered by ODOT District 8 in Lebanon, Ohio.

(3)  US 35 Corridor Improvements Project; PID #80468

Project Description

In 2004, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission in cooperation with ODOT, completed the Greene 35 Corridor Study, to recommend a strategy to convert the section of US35 between the North Fairfield Interchange and the Xenia Bypass to a limited-access facility The current project, GRE-35-4.26, focuses on the recommendations of the Corridor Study following ODOT’s Project Development Process (PDP). The PDP provides a framework for decision making to take a project from the planning stages to construction. The project is currently in the environmental analysis and preliminary engineering phases. Additional information can be obtained at the MVRPC website at mvrpc.org.

Project Status

This project environmental work and preliminary engineering has been awarded to Ch2MHill by ODOT. Approval of the Environmental Document is scheduled for the year 2010 with completion of construction drawings possible by 2012, depending on availability of funds. Actual construction funding has not been allocated.

(4)  Dayton-Xenia Road Widening Project; PID #5005

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.        The widening of Dayton-Xenia Road to a four (4) lane curbed pavement section from Wildonna Dr. to just east of East Lynn Drive. Dayton-Xenia Rd. will be widened to five (5) lanes in the vicinity of Grange Hall Rd. and Stedman Lane. Grange Hall Rd. will be widened from the Creekside Trail to just south of Milner Drive. Additionally, some sections of Dayton-Xenia will be reconstructed to improve intersection sight distance.

2.        A bikeway will be constructed along the north side of Dayton-Xenia Road and a sidewalk will be constructed along the south side of the roadway. A bikeway will also be constructed along portions of the west side of Grange Hall Road, and a sidewalk along portions of the east side of the roadway.

3.        The traffic signal at Grange Hall Road and Dayton-Xenia Road will be reconstructed to be a mast arm type signal with a new traffic controller that will provide for left turn arrows in all directions.

Project Status

The project design and right-of-way acquisition work has been completed. The City opened bids on this project in late 2008, The construction contract was awarded to the RB Jergens Company in February 2009. Construction work began in the Spring of 2009 and is expected to be substantially complete by November,2009 with final cleanup in the Spring of 2010.

(5)  N. Fairfield Road Traffic Signal Upgrade Project

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.        The upgrading of the existing traffic signal system along N. Fairfield Road through the installation of fiber optic cable, improved system timings, the upgrading of traffic signal heads, the upgrading of pedestrian heads, new controllers, and the installation of incident management cameras at selected intersections.

2.         This project also includes the installation of new curb ramps at selected intersections to fully comply with current ADA requirements and the installation of battery backup systems at selected intersections.

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.         The interconnection of eleven (11) intersections with fiber optic cable. This will allow for improved timing and coordination between traffic signals and improved traffic flow on Dayton-Xenia and N. Fairfield Roads. The intersections included in this project are shown below:

(7)  N. Fairfield Rd. @ Beaver Vu Dr. Signal Project

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.        The installation of a new mast arm type traffic signal at the intersection of North Fairfield Road and Beaver Vu Drive.

2.         This new traffic signal would be connected to the City’s proposed fiber optic traffic signal system to ensure proper coordination with other traffic signals along this section of North Fairfield Road.

(8)  Indian Ripple Road Widening Project; PID #80250

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.        The widening of Indian Ripple Road to a five (5) lane curbed pavement section from Sylvania Drive to Darst Road. The widening continues on the north side of Indian Ripple Road from Darst Road to Harbert Drive.

2.        The project includes the reconstruction of the traffic signals at Sylvania Drive, Woodcroft Trail, and Darst Road.

3.        Project includes street lighting, a bikeway along the north side of Indian Ripple Road, and a sidewalk along the south side of Indian Ripple Road.

4.        The traffic signals and street lights will be painted to match the color of the lighting fixtures in front of the Greene Development.

Project Status

The design of this project has been completed and the City commenced with right-of-way acquisition activities in late 2008. The right-of-way acquisition phase will be completed with appropriation of the final five parcels in early August, 2009. Bids could be set then for October , 2009 with construction in 2010..

(9)  Beavercreek Station Project; PID #81196

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.        The construction of a parking lot and restroom facility along the west side of N. Fairfield Road, just north of the Creekside Trail Bikeway.

2.        The project includes parking lot lighting, and landscaping.

3.        The proposed building will be constructed to resemble an old train depot structure.

(10)  Grange Hall Road Bikeway Project; PID #81194

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.        The construction of a bikeway along the east side of Grange Hall Road from the Creekside Trail to Research Blvd.

2.        This project also includes some minor widening on Grange Hall Road, the installation of curb along the east side of the roadway, and some minor drainage improvements.

(11)  I-675 @ Indian Ripple Rd. Enhancement Project

Project Description

This project generally consists of the following components:

1.        The enhancement of the interchange area through the planting of shade trees, evergreens, shrubs, and perennial flowers.

2.         This project also involves some minor grading within the interchange area and the placement of decorative retaining walls to create suitable planting beds.

1.        Pavement planning of the existing surface course of asphalt and resurfacing with new asphalt on N. Fairfield Road from Kemp Road to Crossings Blvd. and on Pentagon Blvd. / New Germany-Trebein Road from the north entrance to the mall to Towne Drive.

2.        The project also involves the installation of raised pavement markers, pavement repairs, the installation of new signal detector loops, and pavement markings.

3.         The installation of overhead lane use signs, adjustments to traffic signal timings, and the installation of new pavement markings.

3. The installation of new pavement markings.
